Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended three individuals believed to be involved in a murder case that occurred in July. The incident took place in Ebuyalu village, Vihiga County, where a 27-year-old man was brutally killed. The arrested trio, consisting of Ibra Amos, Dickson Munala, and Sypros Omondi, were taken into custody in Yala township, Siaya County, on Thursday. Their arrest followed the identification of their presence at the crime scene through forensic analysis.

The suspects were found in possession of the personal belongings of the deceased and are now facing charges related to the murder.

According to the DCI statement, the tragic event unfolded on July 3 when Ibrahim Ondeko, 27 years old and accompanied by his wife, had just closed his shop at approximately 10 pm. Without warning, assailants armed with machetes attacked the couple, resulting in the immediate death of the man. The attackers had concealed their faces during the assault.

The victim’s wife, who sustained life-threatening injuries but managed to escape, recounted the incident to the police. She described how the men with covered faces attacked them right after closing their shop, with one of the attackers wielding a machete that struck her left arm, causing severe injury.

The woman fled from the attackers and encountered patrolling police officers who responded to her distress. Upon arriving at the scene, the officers found the robbers had fled, and the lifeless body of the deceased lay in a pool of blood.

The investigation into this gruesome murder commenced, leading to the deployment of investigators from the elite Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau. They initiated a manhunt for the suspects involved in this heinous crime.
