ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo unveiled three Free Public WiFi Hotspots in Trans Nzoia County on Thursday. These WiFi spots, situated at Sikhendu Market, Kiminini Market, and Kitale Bus Stage, are aligned with the Kenya Kwanza government’s digitalization strategy, aimed at enabling youth participation in e-commerce.

Eliud Owalo highlighted that these public WiFi initiatives are part of President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which seeks to grant access to the Internet and e-commerce opportunities to youth and market traders at the grassroots level.

Owalo expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the traders and anticipated positive outcomes for them through the Free Public WiFi Hotspots. Alongside him was Health Ministry’s Susan Nakhumicha and other notable leaders including Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Gideon Oyagi, Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang (also Senate ICT Committee Chairman), and Communications Authority DG Ezra Chiloba.
