President William Ruto is scheduled to commence a four-day official tour of the Nyanza region starting on Friday, October 6. During this visit, he will oversee the launch of various development initiatives in Kisumu, Homa Bay, Siaya, and Migori counties in alignment with Kenya Kwanza’s Bottom Up agenda.

In Kisumu, President Ruto will initiate the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kabonyo Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Center of Excellence in Nyando constituency, which is funded with Ksh.1 billion. Additionally, he will oversee the commissioning of the Lake Basin Mall, the launch of the Koru-Bible College Road, and the introduction of MV Uhuru 2, a ship designed to enhance transportation and trade on Lake Victoria.

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed mentioned in a statement that President Ruto will also oversee the construction of a Level 4 hospital in Ugenya constituency, a crucial step in bolstering healthcare infrastructure in the region.

Moving to Homa Bay, the President will kickstart the construction of the 53km Mfangano Island Ring Road and the upgrading of the 74km Mbita-Sindo-Kiabuya-Sori road to bitumen standards. He will visit Victory Fish Farms in Sindo and initiate the rehabilitation of piers in places like Homa Bay, Kendu Bay, Mbita, and Asembo Bay, with the aim of improving marine transport and boosting tourism in the area.

In Migori County, President Ruto will launch the Last Mile water connectivity project in Kegonga, Kuria East, ensuring better access to clean water. He will also commission a tuition block at Rongo University, a significant step in promoting education and skills development. Furthermore, the President will commission Linn Hospital to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the county and launch the construction of the Mabera affordable Housing project in Kuria West constituency, a multifaceted endeavor addressing housing needs and community development.

Before concluding his tour, President Ruto will engage in discussions with leaders from the four counties and chair a Cabinet meeting at the Kisumu State Lodge.
