Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua expressed his confidence on Saturday that President William Ruto will secure a second term in the upcoming 2022 General Election. While visiting Busia County, Gachagua noted that his superior had successfully navigated significant challenges posed by his rivals to undermine his presidential aspirations for 2022. He characterized the forthcoming elections as a comparatively easier endeavor.
Despite the adversities he faced, Ruto emerged victorious in the previous election due to both divine intervention and the support of the Kenyan populace. Gachagua pondered whether the upcoming 2027 election would pose similar challenges, given the ease with which Ruto overcame obstacles.
Having prior experience working in Busia, Gachagua acknowledged the county’s intelligence and discernment. He expressed his belief that when the time comes, the residents of Busia would make an informed choice in selecting the most suitable leader for the nation.
It’s worth noting that opposition leader Raila Odinga holds a substantial following within Busia County and the broader Western region.
